Presentation day

We did our final presentation this week.  All in all, we needed to practice together more; however, we never were able to make the time to do so.  It was really interesting to increase my ukulele playing ability by teaching someone else instead of just learning my self.  I think that it made a much better player overall.

11/27/12

Worked on the transition from Em to F, C to E7 and C to D7.  That is all that is keeping me from getting down over the rainbow.

11/27/12! Day 5

Now that today was the last day we get in class to practice before our presentation, we were practicing only Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World.  We need to make sure we are 100% ready for the presentation day so we don't have any mess-ups.  We are almost ready, luckily James and I both have  Skype and webcams, so over the next two weeks we will be practicing together that way.

11/9/12 Day 4

We really focused on somewhere over the rainbow and went more in-depth with it (ie. learning the strumming patterns for it and applying them to the music). We finished the tabs for Classico just for fun.  We also learned to play the Adventure Time theme song which is just 3 chords: C-G-F-G-C-C-C-C-C-G-G-G-G-G-F-F-F-F-F-G-G-G-G-G-C.  All in all, we're just getting ready for the final presentation day.

11/9/12

Finished learning Classico by Tenacious D,  I learned the theme song for adventure time, I learned to bend the notes, and we worked on the strumming pattern for over the rainbow.

Day 3!

I recently upgraded and purchased a more expensive, concert ukulele, which has more frets, and has a bigger tone than a soprano.  We focused a lot today on "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" because I want that to be the song we play for the final presentation.  I helped James work more with a pick today.  They can be helpful because when strumming with your hand for long periods of time, it can actually hurt; the pick also gives off a louder sound.  James also began to learn how to strum up AND down and is working on combining them smoothly.  The song stated before is an excellent song to practice this since the strumming pattern is consistent throughout almost the entire song, and is fairly intermediate.

We are on our way.

10/23/12

Today we focused on Over the rainbow,  I learned a new chord, E minor 7.  Most of my individual practice now is focused on transitioning from F to the new chord.  I am also getting used to strumming with a pick.
